When it comes to online learning, one of the most important aspects is the asynchronous lesson. This is when students are able to work on their own time, and at their own pace. It can be a bit tricky to create an engaging and successful asynchronous lesson, but with these three steps, you'll be able to do just that!

The first step is to create a lesson plan that is clear, concise, interesting, and engaging. This will ensure that students are able to understand what they need to do, and when they need to do it. Additionally, be sure to include a variety of activities and assignments that will appeal to different learning styles. If your students are not interested in the content, they are not going to be motivated to learn it. Make sure to include activities that will hold their attention and make them want to learn more.

The second step is to set up your online class in a way that is organized and easy to navigate. Students should be able to easily follow along and understand what they need to do. If the lesson is too confusing, they will likely get frustrated and give up. Again, this will help students know what they need to do and where they need to go. A good tip is to use colors, labels, and images to help differentiate between different areas of the class.

Finally, the third step is to be available for questions and support. This doesn't mean that you have to be online 24/seven, but you should make yourself available during reasonable hours. This means having a way for students to ask questions and get help if they need it. Additionally, be sure to respond to questions and concerns in a timely manner. Sometimes, asynchronous lessons can be overwhelming, so it's important to have a support system in place.

By following these three steps, you can create an asynchronous lesson that is both engaging and successful! Online learning can be a great way to reach students who might not otherwise have access to your content. With a little bit of effort, you can make sure that your asynchronous lessons are top-notch!  Be sure to grab the 10 Apps for Teachers who are Broke as a Joke below that will give you more tips and tricks for making your online learning courses a success!
